The NHFDC Scholarship Scheme for Students with Disabilities is launched by National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation (NHFDC), Government of India. This scheme is specially launched for disabled students. The objective behind introducing this scheme is to provide financial assistance to the differently-abled students to enable them to pursue professional or technical courses from recognized institutes and get employed/self-employed. This scheme envisages encouraging differently-abled students by providing scholarships and other assistance to pursue professional or technical courses and various skill development courses for their empowerment. Under this scheme, 2500 scholarships will be provided to the differently-abled students throughout the country. 30% scholarships will be reserved for girls. Candidates can apply be qualifying eligibility norms which are mentioned below.
Benefits of NHFDC Scholarship Scheme for Students with Disabilities:
- NHFDC Scholarship Scheme for Students with Disabilities provides benefits in the form of financial help and some other benefits
- Maintenance allowance will be paid to the students for 10 months Rs. 2500 per month for professional graduate courses and Rs. 3000 per month for Professional postgraduate courses in one academic year
- Books stationary allowance will be paid to the candidates perusing professional graduate courses Rs. 6000 per annum and Rs. 10000 per annum for perusing professional postgraduate courses
- Eligible courses Graduation/ Post graduation/ Technical courses
- Non-refundable fees shall be fully awarded in case of Government/Government-aided institution. In case of private Institutes, the reimbursement would be restricted to similar courses in Government/Government-aided institutions
- Visual, Hearing and Orthopedically handicapped differently-abled students, in addition, will be provided aids and appliances, only once during lifetime, as given below
- Brailler Typewriter: Rs. 10,000 for blind
- Laptop with Screen reading software: Rs. 40,000 for blind
- Laptop with Screen Magnification software: Rs. 60,000 for low vision
- Laptop or Desktop: Rs. 40,000 for orthopedically handicapped
- Binaural digital programmable hearing aid with annual provision of button cell: Rs 50,000 + Rs 3600 p.a. for hearing handicapped
- Cell phone with SMS SIM card: Rs 5,000 for hearing handicapped
- Laptop with Wi-Fi (Blue tooth) facility: Rs 70,000 for hearing handicapped
Required eligibility and conditions for applying NHFDC Scholarship Scheme for Students with Disabilities:
- Candidate must be permanent resident of India
- Candidates parental annual income should not be more than Rs. 3 lakh per annum
- A scholarship holder under this scheme will not able avail any other scholarship/stipend for pursuing the course
- A candidate who is awarded scholarship for one course, after its completion will be eligible for another course too
- Students who pursue their education through correspondence would also be eligible for the scholarship
- Students who get admission to a college to pursue technical/professional courses, on the basis of a competitive examination will be eligible for the scholarship without any consideration of percentage of marks at higher secondary/graduation level
- Students who get admission in technical/professional courses without facing any competitive examination will also be eligible for the scholarship. However, such students should have not less than 50% marks at higher secondary/graduation level, In case of female students should have not less than 45% marks at higher secondary/graduation level
- Scholarship will be awarded for only one course at a time
- A scholarship awarded may be canceled if the scholar changes the subject of the course of study for which the scholarship was originally awarded
- Scholarship will not be paid for the period of internship/houseman ship in the M.B.B.S. course or for a practical training in any course
- The conditions can be changed at any time at the discretion of the Government of India
Document required for applying NHFDC Scholarship Scheme for Students with Disabilities:
- Income certificate of parents
- Nationality certificate e.g. domicile certificate
- Disability certificate
- Course fee receipt
- Previous year marksheet
- Academic records or marksheets
- Receipt of eligible assistive devices duly countersigned by the authorized signatory of the institution
- Aadhar card
- Bank details e.g. IFSC code, MICR code, account number, branch name
Application procedure:
- Students, who meet the eligibility criteria indicated in above section, may apply for NHFDC Scholarship by filling online against Scholarship Disabled Students
- First of all, students need to visit the official website i.e http://www.nhfdc.nic.in
- After that press ‘Apply Online’ link and read the instructions carefully before applying
- Fill the form properly and enclose the required xerox copies of documentation
- Take a printout of the system generated form
- Disability certificate should be in pdf, doc format having file size not more than 100 kb.
- Current year paid fee receipt should be in pdf, doc format having file size not more than 100 kb
- Candidate photo should be in jpg, bmp, png format having file size not more than 50 kb
- Cancel cheque or Copy of passbook should be in pdf, doc format having file size not more than 100 kb
- In case of renewal form marksheet of previous year In case of semester system, enclose marksheet of two semesters in one pdf Up to 100k
- Printed copy of form duly countersigned and recommended by the head of the institution (where student studying) along with requisite certificates should reach at the stated address below
