Why renewal of driving license is required?
As we know the driving license is the official document which authorizes its holder to operate various types of motor vehicle on highways and some other roads to which the public have access. While issuing driving license it comes with a validity period for example 10 year, 20 years once that period is over the driving you have expires or of no use. To make again usable it is mandatory to renew it
Document required for applying Renewal of license:
- The driving license
- Form 9
- PAN card is compulsory
- Address Proof : Electoral Roll/Life Insurance Policy/Passport/Pay slip issued by any office of the central government/ State Government or a local body/any other document or documents as may be prescribed by the state government/affidavit sworn before an executive Magistrate or a first class Judicial Magistrate or a Notary Public to be enclosed
- Date of birth Proof: Birth certificate/ school certificate/ affidavit sworn before an executive magistrate of first class judicial magistrate or a Notary Public to be enclosed
- Parents Consent: The written consent of parent guardian (in the case of applicant being a minor)
- Medical Certificate: Medical Certificate issued by qualified doctor needs to be enclosed, form 1-A
- Photos: One Passport photo size to be uploaded as attachment

Required eligibility for application:
- An application for renewal shall be made not more than one month before the date of expiry of the license
- A person who has completed 18 years of age can get a license for M/cycle and Light Motor Vehicles
- A person who has completed 20 years of age can get a license to drive professional and Light Transport Vehicles such as M/Cycles, Taxis, Auto rickshaws, P/Ups, etc.
- A person who has completed 16 years of age but below 18 years of age can get a license for M/cycles not exceeding 50c.c.
- Applicants must have a Learner’s license before applying for a permanent driving license
Online application procedure:
- Applicant should visit official website mentioned next for filling online application form https://egov.goa.nic.in/niceservices/RTO/DL_renewal.aspx . Next window will appear which will look this posted below
- First, fill online application form with relevant information
- You can download other forms onto your computer and fill in the information requested (such as vehicle details, personal details etc.)
- Once you have filled in all the relevant details, upload the documents required and submit the form
- The applicant is requested to retain the Application Reference Number that shall be provided on successful submission of the application. The status of the same shall be made available through SMS/Email
- Then you will be issued with a Driving License, which will be sent by post to the address mentioned in the application form
