Kerala Pravasi Welfare Board an undertaking of Government of Kerala has a popular scheme for people of Kerala working outside the state and country. The scheme is called Pravasi Pension Scheme (PPS) for non-resident Keralites and the objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to the people post retirement or when they come back to the state after working out of the state for the long time. Most of the Keralites are working abroad due to financial conditions and unavailability of employment opportunities in the state. The Government of Kerala has formed a Non-Resident Keralites’ Welfare Fund Act in 2008 and introduced a number of schemes for people of Kerala working abroad.

What is Pravasi Pension Scheme  (PPS) & benefits?

  • A pension scheme for the people of Kerala working out Kerala or country
  • Non-resident Keralites (living abroad): Who made a monthly contribution of Rs. 100 to the welfare fund continuously up to the age of sixty will get monthly pension of Rs. 2,000
  • Non-resident Keralites (living out of Kerala but in other states in India / NRKs / In India outside Kerala): Monthly pension of Rs. 2,000 for those who contributed Rs. 100 every month till 60 years of age
  • The membership will be canceled if the monthly contribution is not made for a year
  • Those who contributed monthly for more than five years is eligible for 3% additional pension

Eligibility of Pravasi Pension Scheme:

  • All those who are originally from Kerala can apply for the same
  • All those who are working out of the state or country only can apply for the pension scheme
  • Non-residents Keralites who are covered under state or central government pension scheme are not eligible for PPS
