On July 6, 2021, Manipur state cabinet approved “Chief Minister’s Covid-19 Affected Livelihood Support Scheme’ for supporting the people whose livelihood is affected due to covid pandemic. There are many people in Manipur who are extremely impacted economically due to the second wave of covid. Under this scheme government will provide a financial assistance of Rs. 5000 in two equal installments to the one beneficiary per family. This scheme would cover all the street vendors, daily wage workers, construction site workers, farmers, public transport drivers, school van drivers, artisans, shop assistants, etc. Financial assistance under this scheme will help the beneficiaries in their survival and help them maintain their standard of living. This is an important step taken by the state government for the welfare of the lower income group people in these tough times.
