Aarogyasri is a health insurance scheme launched in 2007, by the former CMO of Andhra Pradesh Dr. Y S Rajasekhara Reddy for the people in the states of Andhra Pradesh ad Telangana, who cannot financially afford the medical treatments. Later in 2019 it was re-framed as Dr. YSR Aarogyasri. The main objective of the scheme is to provide financial help to those who belong to lower income category. It aims at providing good health care services to them without having to spend any money, Premium for the policy is borne by the Andhra Pradesh government.

Scheme Objectives:
- This scheme mainly concerns with providing good quality of health care facilities to the families who are from a lower income group.
- The scheme, also aims at financially helping the families, and providing cash less treatments in the network hospitals. Even the burden of premium is bore by the government of Andhra Pradesh for every insured family/individual.
- To ensure improvement in the quality of health of the people across the states is the long run objective.
Scheme Benefits:
- The main benefit of the scheme is, provision of Cashless treatment in hospitals and health camps for the families who cannot bear such financial burden of hospital bills and treatment costs.
- Several government and private hospitals have registered under this scheme, to provide treatments to the insured patients.
- Not only the main treatment, but also the follow up treatments are included under this scheme.
- Under this scheme, the entire family is insured at once, no separate insurance scheme/registration is required for very family member.
Treatments covered and not covered under this scheme:
The treatments like heart surgery, brain surgery, critical care, general surgery, neurology, Psychiatry, etc are insured under this scheme. While, leprosy, HIV, malaria, Jaundice, Infectious diseases, etc are not insured under this scheme. A complete list for the same is available on the official website for reference.
Eligibility:
- Families only in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are eligible for this scheme
- The families covered under this scheme should not have more than Rs. 5 Lakhs of annual income.
- These families should also have a White Ration Card

How to Enroll/Apply:
- For enrolling, the applicants can visit the nearest enrollment centres. The applicants should take the necessary documents with them while registration. After document verification, the eligible applicants will get a Health Card. I
