Free Higher Education for Girls launched by Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of Gujarat. The main objective behind introducing this scheme is women empowerment and women education. As we know education is very important in all aspects of life. Obviously, it is a crucial part of women empowerment. If a woman is educated it tends to improve social economic growth, to decrease domestic and sexual violence, to decrease child marriage etc. that’s why a Gujarat government has taken the unique initiative to improve women education, by offering free education. Under this scheme, free education is provided to the girls studying in the non-grantable colleges, IGNOU and Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Open University and their tuition fee is refunded to the respective institution by the government under this scheme. All girl resident of Gujarat can get benefits of the scheme. More information about the scheme can be obtained from the college or university or women and child development department

Eligibility and conditions applying for Free Higher Education for Girls:
- Gujarat resident are eligible
- Below Poverty Line, cardholder is also eligible
- Girls studying higher education are eligible
- Girls studying at Non-grantable colleges, IGNOU and Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Open University are eligible under this scheme
Documents applying for Free Higher Education for Girls:
- Residence proof: Domicile certificate, Electricity bill
- Identity proof: Aadhar card, Voter ID
- Academic certificates
- Passport size photograph
- Bank passbook copy
- Bank details e.g. IFSC code, MICR code, Account no
Application procedure:
- Application form is available at Non-grantable colleges, IGNOU and Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Open University
- Applicant girl should visit Nearest Anganwadi center or Department of Women and Child Development
