Uttar Pradesh state government rolled out Free ration scheme in the state on December 12, 2021. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath distributed ration packets to some beneficiaries marking the start. Under this initiative the state government will provide free food grains to poor people in the state in line with PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PM-GKAY). Beneficiaries will get double ration under both the schemes. This initiative is launched under the National Food Security Act. The Antyodaya and eligible domestic ration card holders will be covered for direct benefit under this scheme. About 15 crore card holders will be benefitted under the initiative.
