Punjab government has started a initiative Free ration scheme for migrants and urban poor. Free ration scheme is implementation of government of India’s Atmanirbhar scheme. As per scheme Punjab government will provide wheat-flour and 1 kg dal per person as well as 1 kg sugar per family.
Government is also opening workplaces for them. 60% of factories are already reopened in Punjab. They will begin distribution of dry ration packets from May 27, 2020. The distribution will start from Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Sangrur. They already had given 15 lakh ration packets to needy.

Eligibility:
- Migrants and Urban poor only can register them self for this scheme
- Scheme is only for 2 months who needs dry ration
- Scheme is available only in Punjab
- The is applicable only for those who are not covered under NFSA (National Food Security Act)
Government is also helping them who do not have place to live, shelter houses and who is waiting to go back home
