Step by step application procedure for Aadhaar Card, required documents & eligibility

Aadhaar Card is a document of residence of India. It is a 12-digit identification number issued by UIDAI to the resident of India. It is issued free of cost. Aadhaar Card is issued by the body after collecting Biometric and Demographic data.

Need of Aadhaar Card:

Aadhaar Card is a mandatory proof of residence, it is required for opening bank accounts, income tax purposes, as a proof of address, passport processes, availing LPG connection and other subsidies, etc

Important documents required while applying for an Aadhaar Card:

Proof of Identity: Any 1 of the following documents

  • PAN Card
  • Voter ID Card
  • Driving License
  • Identity Card issued by Govt. organisation
  • Applicant Photo

Proof of Address: Any 1 of the following documents

  • Passport
  • Water bill
  • Electricity Bill
  • Ration Card
  • Telephone bill
  • Driving License
  • Voter ID Card
  • Property Tax Receipt

Passport sized photo

Age Proof: Any 1 of the following documents (in case of Minor)

  • Birth Certificate
  • Bonafide Certificate
  • School leaving Certificate

How to Apply for Aadhaar Card:

One can apply for Aadhaar Card in Gujarat – Offline:

  • The applicant is required to locate and visit the nearest Aadhaar Enrollment Centre. Applicant can book the appointment as well. Enrollment is done free of cost.
  • Visit the centre with required documents like, identity proof, address proof, DOB proof and photos.
  • Get the enrollment form from the centre. Fill in the details, name, address, mobile no., gender, email id, etc. (demographic details)
  • Get the biometrics done. Face photo will be taken at the centre, along with finger prints and scan of the eye irises.
  • For children below 5 years of age, name, Aadhaar and biometrics are provided of the parent.
  • Review and complete the process. Applicant will get an acknowledgement receipt containing the enrollment no. and other details.
  • For any changes in the enrollment process details, 96 hours’ time is provided to the applicant for visiting the centre and making the changes.
  • Applicant can check the Aadhaar status by visiting the enrollment centre or Online as well.
  • Visit the official website @ uidai.gov.in

  • Click on Check Aadhaar status, enter the EID (it is available on the top of application slip) and click on Check status.

  • After the process, applicant will be notified via email/ mobile no. and an Aadhaar No. will be allotted. Applicant can also download e- Aadhaar card from the same site.

  • The hard copy of Aadhaar card will be received through post at the registered permanent address within 15-30 days.

Enrollment of Aadhaar should be done only once. There is no age limit to apply for Aadhaar card.
