One can apply for a ration card in Odisha state via online or offline mode as feasible. It can be applied by any resident irrespective of caste. Ration Card is an essential document for availing necessary basic food items at lower prices. It also provides as a proof of identity, proof for issuing other documents, etc. It is provided based on the income/economic status. It is issued and distributed by Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department in the state.

Types of Ration Card:
- BPL ration card – It is issued to the families below poverty line with an annual income of less than Rs. 1,00,000/-
- APL ration card – It is issued to the families above poverty line
- AAY- Antyodaya ration card – It is issued to the families who are extremely poor with no fixed income or no means of earning income
Processing Time:
- A period of 30 days is required for processing a Ration card
Important documents required while applying for a Ration Card:
- Proof of Identity ( PAN Card/ Election Card/ Passport/ Driving License/ Any Identity Card/document issued by Govt. organisation)
- Proof of Residence (Election Card/ Aadhaar Card/ Electricity Bill/ Telephone Bill/ LPG connection Bill)
- 3 Passport sized photos
- Income proof
- Bank Passbook
The above-mentioned original documents are to be produced for verification and these are to be submitted in copies for further process.
Eligibility:
- Applicant and his/her family members should be Citizens of India
- The applicant and his/her family should mandatory be a residents of Odisha
- Applicant should not had applied for ration card anytime before
Application Procedure to Apply for Ration card:
- The applicant is required to visit the official portal @foododisha.in
- Language settings can be modified thereby
- Click on Online services, followed by Citizen services
- Click on Apply New Card option in the NFSA section
- Fill the application form with details like residential address, ration type and other fps details, of family members details like name, gender DOB, age, occupation details, income details, bank details etc
- Upload required documents and click on Submit
- Take a printout of the acknowledgment
- After proper verification the ration card will be issued
- Applicant can also visit the concerned office and take the ration card form from there
- Fill the required details like name, full address details, caste, religion, gender, marital status, family details, income details, contact details, etc
- Sign the declaration
- Affix a passport sized photo on the form
- Submit the duly filled form with required documents in the office
- Once verified and approved by the officer, the Ration card will be issued and sent to the registered address by post
- Applicant can also add/ delete/ transfer any member from the ration card online through the official portal
- Ration card can also be downloaded from the portal
