Department of Science & Technology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India had launched the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) scheme. The objective of the scheme is to attract students and youth in sciences. The scheme was launched in 2008. Government wants to attract and identify students interested in sciences at early stage and provide them opportunities so that they can build their career in sciences. The scheme will help India in the field of science, technology and research.
The Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) Faculty Scheme gives young researchers an Assured Opportunity for Research Career (AORC) at the age of 27 to 32 years. This scheme offers contractual research positions along with career opportunities.

INSPIRE: Amount & Duration
- Selected candidates will be given fellowship assistance of Rs 80,000 per month
- Each successful candidates of INSPIRE Faculty will get a Research Grant of Rs 7 lakh per year for 5 years
- The duration of INSPIRE Faculty Award is a maximum for 5 years
Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) Faculty Scheme: Eligibility
- Applicants should be an Indian Citizen or PIO/ NRI
- The applicant must be Ph.D. in science, mathematics, engineering, pharmacy, medicine, and agriculture-related subjects from any recognized university in the world
- Applicants should possess minimum 60% marks or equivalent CGPA marks throughout his/her academic profile starting from Higher Secondary Examination (class 12th onwards)
- Applicants those have submitted their Ph.D. and are awaiting award of the degree are also eligible
- Age Limit: The applicant must not be more than 35 years of age
