Ishan Uday Scholarship Scheme for North Eastern Region

The Ishan Uday Scholarship Scheme for North Eastern Region started by started by Central Government (Human Resource and Development) for the students of North Eastern Region. The main objective behind introducing this scheme is to the promotion of higher education in the NER. For improving the GER (Gross Enrolment Ratio), promoting higher education and for encouraging children belonging to an economically weaker section of the NE region. Under this scheme ten thousand  (Rs. 10,000) fresh scholarships every year beginning from the academic year 2014-15 for general degree courses, technical and professional courses, including medical and para-medical courses. The scholarship scheme is specially meant for economically poor students of North Eastern Region for providing equal opportunity to pursue higher education

Benefits of Ishan Uday Scholarship Scheme for North Eastern Region:

  • Ishan Uday Scholarship Scheme for North Eastern Region provides a scholarship in the form of financial assistance. Rates of scholarship are mentioned below
  • An amount of Rs. 5400 per month for General Degree courses
  • An amount of Rs. 7800 per month for Technical & Professional courses (including Medical & Paramedical courses)
  • Amount will be given to students through Direct Benefits Transfer (DBT)

Required eligibility and conditions for applying Ishan Uday Scholarship Scheme for North Eastern Region:

  1. Candidate must be permanent domicile of North Eastern Region
  2. Parental annual income should not more than 4.5 lakh per annum
  3. Candidate must have passed Class XII or equivalent exam from a school situated within NER through any recognized Board of Education, including Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE), National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) within NER only
  4. Candidate must have secured admission in general degree course, technical and professional courses including medical and para-medical courses (Integrated courses included) in Universities/Colleges/Institutions recognized by UGC under Section 2(f) and 12(B) of UGC Act, 1956/ Section 3 of UGC Act, 1956/ Institutions of National Importance/ Institutions recognized by other Statutory councils within as well as outside the States of NER
  5. Only first-year Under-graduate students are eligible to apply for the scholarship
  6. Students pursuing courses, such as Diploma Courses, not leading to award of a Degree

Document required for applying Ishan Uday Scholarship Scheme for North Eastern Region:

  1. Domicile certificate
  2. Income certificate
  3. Aadhar card
  4. Bonafide certificate
  5. Previous years Marksheet
  6. Passport size photograph
  7. Admission certificate
  8. Bank details e.g. account number, account holder name, branch name, IFSC code, MICR code
  9. Affidavit (Undertaking for not availing any other Scholarship in the form of an affidavit on Rs. 50/- Stamp paper from the student/parent duly attested by SDM / First Class Magistrate / Gazetted Officer (not below the rank of Tahsildar)
