Jalyukt Shivar Abhiyaan in Maharashtra

The Maharashtra government in India has launched a water management programme named Jalyukt Shivar Abhiyan to make Maharashtra state drought-free state by 2019. The programme aims to make 5000 villages free from water shortage every year. Under this programme, the micro-irrigation systems would be encouraged for proficient use of water, hence increasing the irrigated area. The government will be initially allocating Rs 1,000 crore for the scheme. Several parts of Maharashtra state still facing the shortage of water problem. Maharashtra is a drought-prone area, especially its region of Vidarbha and Marathwada. Due to this, the farmer cannot able to fulfill their need of water for agriculture. The project involves deepening and widening of streams, construction of cement and earthen stop dams, work on nullahs and digging of farm ponds. The scheme has objective to store and manage water resources and use them on those areas where farmers suffering from low rainfall and irrigation problem. The Maharashtra government has a target to make entire state drought-free by the end of 2019. The government has set the yearly target to complete this water management project. For this whole scheme, Maharashtra government allocate 70,000 crores for the Abhiyan. Maharashtra government can implement the whole programme with the technology. The government developed the mobile APP and the online portal with the help of MRSAC. The app is used to locate the location by map. This mapped location then monitored through the online portal. The user will be able to download the application, view instruction manual and view mapping locations along with photographs. District-wise, taluka-wise, work-wise statistics is also available both in tabular and graphical form. The project aims to make 5000 villages free of water scarcity every year. Jalyukt Shivar Abhiyan Campaign:

  1. The jalyukt shivar team is dedicated to spreading awareness campaign for the scheme. This scheme is already becoming people scheme where the huge amount of masses are coming forward together to support the Abhiyan. The participation of the public in the scheme helps to achieve the target for this scheme. Maharashtra government already talk and getting involvement of actor Aamir Khan for this campaign to boost this Abhiyan

Implementing Jalyukt Shivar Abhiyan:

  1. The government of Maharashtra has the target to implement water conservation and micro-irrigation on 25 lakh hector in the state within 15 months. The major support of the public in this Abhiyan aims to target 60 percent area. Jalyukta shivar yojana implement in each and every district, taluka and villages
