Kala Gaurav Puraskar started by state Government of Goa in association with Department of Art and Culture to felicitate old artists working in the field of Art and Culture. Under this scheme, state government felicitates such artists who have given substantial contribution in the field of Art and Culture. Kala Gaurav Puraskar intends to give recognition to artists for their outstanding achievement and their extraordinary contribution to the field of Art & Culture in Goa.
The main objectives of this is to give State recognition to those artists who have given substantial contribution in the field of Art and Culture, to felicitate the artists for their lifetime achievement in the field of Art and Culture, to recognize and appreciate the old age talent which was so far not recognized by the State Government. In this scheme, The Department of Art and Culture annually felicitates old artists in the field of Music, Dance, Drama, Folk Art, Creative Photography, Painting, Craft, Sculpture, Bhajan/Kirtan, Literature, and Films etc with this award. In this scheme, government felicitated artists with shawl, shrifal, a certificate of appreciation and financial purse to the extent of Rs. 25,000/- per individual. Every year, government felicitates more than 30 artists in Goa

Eligibility for Kala Gaurav Puraskar:
- An individual artist who has completed 60 years of age are eligible for this scheme
- Artist who has given substantial contribution in his/her respective field of art shall be eligible to receive Kala Gaurav Puraskar under this scheme
- A person who has given extraordinary contribution in the field of Art & Culture are eligible to receive the award
- Goan artist should have contributed minimum 10 years in his/her field of art
- An artist’s awarded only once for this Kala Gaurav Puraskar
Documents required for Kala Gaurav Puraskar:
- Identity card
- Passport size photos
- Domicile certificate
How to apply for Kala Gaurav Puraskar:
- Every year the Department of Art & Culture releases a press advertisement inviting recommendations of the names for Kala Gaurav Puraskar from institutions, individuals working in the field of Art & Culture
- The Department of Art & Culture may also write to any institutions, individuals to suggest/recommend the names for Kala Gaurav Puraskar
- Once recommendations received from the Sub-Committee, the Director of Art & Culture will give acceptance for concerned artist to receive the Kala Gaurav Puraskar
