Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee has started the scheme for girl student named Kanyashree Yojana in Kolkata. Under this scheme, the government provides financial assistance of Rs 25,000 to the girl students when they reach at the age of 18 years. The government also provides an annual scholarship to the girl’s student till they reach the age of 18 years. The main aim of the scheme is to improve the education and well-being of girls & specifically those girls who belong to below poverty line (BPL). The scheme is so popular and successful & it was also highlighted at World Girls Summit 2014 in London. This scheme is helping to increase educational status, health and contribute towards the empowerment of the girls in the State with bringing immeasurable benefits for the larger society as a whole. For applying under this scheme applicant candidate need to qualify some eligibility norms which are mentioned below in the article. Benefits of Kanyashree Yojana for Girl Student:

1. Kanyashree Yojana provides benefits of annual Scholarship of Rs. 500/- per year to the girl student
2. Government also provide one-time financial assistance of Rs 25,000 to the girl students when they reach at the age of 18 years

Eligibility for Kanyashree Yojana for Girl Student:

1. Applicant should be resident of West Bengal state
2. All girl children within the age of 13 to 19 years are eligible for annual scholarship and once they reach the age of 18 years then they are eligible for one-time grant under this scheme
3. Girls family income should not be more Rs 120000/- per year

Documents required for Kanyashree Yojana for Girl Student:

1. Aadhaar card
2. Birth certificate
3. Passport size photos
4. Girls education certificate
5. Girl parents income certificate
6. Bank account details
7. Caste certificate
8. Physically Handicapped certificate, if applicable

How to apply for Kanyashree Yojana for Girl Student:

1. Applicant should visit Kanyashree Yojana official site https://www.wbkanyashree.gov.in/kp_4.0/index.php
2. Collect the application form from the school/institution
3. The application forms for the Annual Scholarship also called K1
4. One-Time Grant application forms also called K2
5. Applicant girl student in 8^th class should have to fill application form for annual scholarship at school in West Bengal
6. Once applicant completed 18 years then fill the application form for one-time grant
7. Applicant should visit headmaster/principal of the school in West Bengal
