Manobik Scheme, West Bengal

In 2018, West Bengal government launched a pension scheme for the disabled and physically challenged people in the state. This scheme aims at social and financial security of the disabled people. It is implemented across the state in all the sections. On International day of Persons with Disabilities, on December 3, 2020, CMO Mamata Banerjee reassured the scheme benefit to all the specially-abled people in the state with a monthly pension. About 2 lakh disabled people in the state are benefiting through this scheme.

Scheme Objectives and Benefits:

• The main objective of the scheme is to provide social security to the disabled people in the state
• It provides financial security to the beneficiaries by the way of pension
• It aims at upliftment of the specially-abled in the state
• This scheme will enable the beneficiaries to live an independent and secured life
• It will help the disabled as well as their families to live a secured life in the long run

Eligibility:

• Person applying to avail the scheme benefit should be a permanent resident of the state
• Person should have 50% or more disability
• This scheme is applicable to both Men and Women
• Annual income of the applicant should not be more than Rs. 1,00,000 per annum

Documents Required:

• Identity proof
• PWD Certificate
• Bank account
• Passport size photo

Application Process:

• The applicant needs to go to the Block Development Officer/ Executive Officer/ Sub Divisional Officer as applicable and get the form
• Form can also be downloaded from the Department of Women and Child Development and Social Welfare website @ wbcdwdsw.gov.in
• Fill the form and submit it with copies of required documents
• After checking and verification of the form and documents the applicant will be issued pension facility

• A budget of Rs. 250 cr. was sanctioned for this scheme
