On August 26, 2021 Punjab state cabinet headed by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh approved the Mera Kaam Mera Maan scheme planned for the unemployed youth in the state. Under this scheme the state government has planned to provide free of cost skill development training to the unemployed youth in the state. This training will be provided in the form of short term skill development courses. The candidates enrolled for the skill development programmes will get an employment assistance allowance of Rs. 2500 per month for 12 months which will include the training period and pre employment and post-employment period. These courses will be conducted at Punjab skill development mission training centers. This scheme will currently be started as a pilot project aimed at covering about 30,000 beneficiaries in the state.

- Estimated outlay for this pilot project is Rs. 90 crores.
