The Chief Minister of Bihar Shree. Nitish Kumar has announced a Girl`s Upliftment Scheme in Bihar called Mukhyamantri Kankya Utthan Yojana (MKUY) / मुख्यमंत्री कन्या उत्थान योजना. The scheme will focus on health, education, safety, security of the girls in Bihar and most primarily work for upliftment and empowerment of the girls in the state. The scheme is approved by the state cabinet and will be launched soon. The scheme will also provide financial assistance to the girls who on completion of 12th and upon graduation. Rs. 2,200 crores will be allocated on the scheme every year and close to 1 crore 60 lakh girls are expected to get benefited with the scheme. The scheme has provisions to support girl child starting from birth till she graduates and the girls in the state will be provided Rs. 54,100 since birth till graduation.
Objectives of Mukhyamantri Kankya Utthan Yojana Bihar:
- To stop female feticide
- To encourage child birth
- To encourage vaccinations
- To correct male-female ratio in the state
- To reduce infant deaths
- To promote girls education
- To stop child marriage
- To empower and encourage girls
- To provide healthy and respectful life to the girls
- To provide education and employment opportunities
- To make girls self reliant and financially independent
Mukhyamantri Kankya Utthan Yojana Benefits:
- Provides universal coverage i.e. all the girls in the state will be provided assistance since birth till graduation
- Rs. 2,000 will be given to the parents on the birth of the girl child, the amount will be deposited in their account
- Rs. 1,000 is given when the girl becomes 1 year on ADHAAR registration for the girl child
- The Bihar state health department will provide financial assistance of Rs. 2,000 for vaccination of the girl on completion of 2 year
- The Education Department of Bihar will provide financial assistance during school education under Mukhamantri Poshakh Yojana (मुख्यमंत्री पोशाक योजना)
- Free school uniform, bag and books
- Rs. 600 (yearly) during the girls education in 1st and 2nd standards
- Rs. 700 yearly will be provided when the girl is studying in 3rd till 5th class
- Rs. 1000 yearly during 6th till 8th standard
- Rs. 1500 yearly during 9th till 12th standard
- Rs. 300 yearly will be paid under Chief Minister Girls Health Program (मुख्यमंत्री किशोरी स्वास्थ्य कार्यक्रम) for sanitary napkins
- Unmarred girls who passed 12th (Intermediate) will be given Rs. 10,000 under Chief Minister Girls (Intermediate) Encouragement Scheme (मुख्यमंत्री बालिका (इंटरमीडिएट) प्रोत्साहन योजना)
- Rs. 25,000 will be given to the girls on completion of graduation under Chief Minister Girls Graduation Encouragement Scheme (मुख्यमंत्री बालिका (स्नातक) प्रोत्साहन योजना)
Eligibility for Mukhyamantri Kankya Utthan Yojana:
- All the girls who are residents of Bihar are eligible for the scheme
- Only first two girls in the family only are eligible for the scheme
Documents Required for Mukhyamantri Kankya Utthan Yojana: The scheme is just announced and the government is yet to announce further details on the application the exact documents required to apply are not available as of now and we will update this section once the details are available. Moreover the scheme depends on other schemes the documents required are as mentioned below:
- Birth certificate of the girl child
- Parent`s AADHAAR card
- Parent`s resident proof
- Income certificate
- Girl`s AADHAAR card
- Mark sheets of the girl child for scholarships
