Every person has a desire to visit pilgrimage place at least once in life in India, but this desire is not fulfilled because of some difficulties such as financial problem, to overcome this problem chief minister of Madhya Pradesh state Shivraj Singh Chauhan introduced new scheme called Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojna to help the poor to fulfill their long-cherished desire.
Under this scheme, the government provides the facility for senior citizens of any religion to visit any religious places (among the 15 most famous pilgrimage places suggested by the government) of his/her choice on the State government expenses. The aim of the scheme is to assist senior citizens above 60 years of age to undertake the pilgrimage to one of the prescribed pilgrimage centers once in the lifetime. The government has sent pilgrim under the package of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to religious places. In this scheme, state government covers 15 most famous pilgrimage places like Badrinath, Kedarnath, Puri (Jagannath), Dwaraka, Haridwar, Amaranth, Vaishno Devi, Kashi, Tirupati, Ajmer Shareef, Gaya, Shirdi, Rameshwaram, Amritsar (Sikh) and Sammed Shikhar (Jain) etc.

Eligibility Criteria for Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojna:
- Applicant must be resident of Madhya Pradesh state
- Applicant should be completed 60 years of age
- Applicant should not be taxpayer
- Applicant should not have taken any benefit of Teerth- Darshan Scheme earlier
- Pilgrim should be physically and mentally fit for the journey
Documents of Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojna:
- Passport size photos
- Ration card
- Applicant domicile certificate
- Identity proof such as Aadhaar card
- Age proof
- Fitness certificate for pilgrim journey
- BPL card
Application procedure for Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojna:
- Applicant visit nearest tahsil or sub-tahsil office related to district/Taluka for application form
- Applicant should fill application form attached with all necessary documents and submit it to the nearest tahsil or sub-tahsil office in the Madhya Pradesh state
- If senior citizens submit the application form in the group, then entire group count as one application and selected in the lottery. One group can consist of maximum 25 applicants including attendants
