One Pet Dog Per Flat – Pet Licensing Scheme Bengaluru: policy & rules for pets

Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike’s (BBMP) has announced new policy / scheme for pets called Pet Licensing Scheme (PLS) Bengaluru. The new policy limits the number of pets per flat and individual houses. As per the new policy only one registered dog can be reared in a flat while an independent house can not have more than three dogs.

The dogs now on should be registered with BBMP. Upon registration the owners will get a radio collar with embedded chip. Dog owners will be find Rs. 1000 if dog doesn’t have license.

The new rules are strongly criticized by the pet owners and pet lovers. Several social media campaigns are launched protesting the new scheme. The popular one amongst them all is #notwithoutmydog on Twitter.
