Scheme of Merit cum Means based Scholarship to Students belonging to Minority Communities

The Meghalaya government has taken initiative for minority development by offering the scholarship which is Merit cum Means based Scholarship to Students belonging to Minority Communities. The objective of the Scheme is to provide financial assistance to the poor and meritorious students belonging to minority communities to enable them to pursue professional and technical courses. These Scholarships are available for studies in India only and will be awarded through an agency designated by the state Government of Meghalaya Administration for this purpose. This scheme will provide better opportunities for increase their rate of attainment in higher education and enhance their employability and empowerment through education and upliftment of the socio economic conditions of the minority communities.

Benefits of Merit cum Means based Scholarship to Students belonging to Minority Communities:

  • Financial assistance will be provided to minority students
  • The maintenance allowance (For 10 month) of Rs. 10,000/- per annum (Rs. 1000/- P.M.) as hostel rate and Rs. 5000/- per annum (Rs. 500/- P.M.) for day scholar
  • The course fee of Rs. 20,000/- per annum or actual whichever is less for hostellers and Rs. 20,000/- per annum or actual whichever is less for day scholar

Eligibility for getting benefits Merit cum Means based Scholarship to Students belonging to Minority Communities:

  1. Students who get admission to a college to pursue technical/professional courses, on the basis of a competitive examination will be eligible for the scholarship
  2. Students who get admission in technical/ professional courses without facing any competitive examination will also be eligible for scholarship. However, such students should have not less than 50% marks at higher secondary/ graduation level. Selection of these students will be done strictly on merit basis
  3. Continuation of the scholarship in subsequent years will depend on successful completion of the course during the preceding year
  4. A Scholarship holder under this scheme will not avail any other scholarship/stipend for pursuing the course
  5. The annual income of the beneficiary/parent or guardian of beneficiary should not exceed Rs.2.50 lakh from all sources
  6. 30% scholarship will be reserved for girls of each minority community

  1. Domicile certificate
  2. Caste certificate
  3. Income certificate
  4. Residence proof
  5. Aadhar card
  6. Bank Details e.g. IFSC code, MICR code, Account number, Account holder name, Branch name
  7. All Mark sheets and certificates
  8. Bonafide certificate
  9. Passport size photograph

Application Procedure:

  1. Applicant should visit the official website and fill details online. Take the print out of the application after filling all the details in the website. The print out copy should be attached with the all documents
  2. Application complete in all respects shall be submitted to the Head of the Institution, being attended or last attended by the candidates
