The Sruthitharangam (Cochlear Implantation Scheme) Scheme is started by the government of Kerala for providing free surgery to children in the age group of 0 to 3 years and who don’t have the ability to speak and hear. A number of children lost much (voice, hearing the sound) soon after birth, and so they face many more problems in their life hence to realize this problem. The Kerala government starts Sruthitharangam scheme to acquire spoken the language and produce intelligible speech and for that, the government will provide hearing ability to select children below three years. The main objective of this scheme is to provide financial assistance for cochlear implantation among children about 0-3 years, with hearing impairment. Eligibility for Sruthitharangam Scheme:
- The child/parents must be the permanent resident of Kerala state government
- The child should be in the age group of 0 to 3 ages
- Annual income of family should be less than Rs. 2 lakh
- The parents of the child should be prepared to undergo a mandatory training on speech therapy
Documents required for applying Sruthitharangam Scheme:
- Permanent resident certificate, e.g. certificate from residency authority
- Identity proof (Adhar Card, Election card)
- Income certificate should not exceed Rs. 2 lakh per year
- Medical certificate requiring cardiac surgery by a competent and qualified cardiac surgeon
- Details of employment of guardian
- Childbirth certificate
