Subvention Scheme, Himachal Pradesh

On April 15, 2021, Himachal Government announced a Subvention Scheme for the Transport and Tourism sector in the state. This scheme was announced by CMO Himachal Pradesh, Mr. Jai Ram Thakur. This scheme is mainly launched to give some relief to the transport and tourism industry in the state. Tourism industry is majorly affected due to the ongoing second wave of the pandemic all over, thus to support the state tourism constant efforts are being made by the state government. This scheme will operate for 3 months till June, 2021 and all the tourist lodges, tourism units, etc will be exempted from paying demand charges for 2 months and the same can be paid in installments later without any late charges.

Scheme Objectives and Benefits:

• The main objective of this scheme is to give some relief in the state transport and tourism which is being affected by the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic
• It also aims at supporting the transport and tourism sector
• Tourist lodges, tourist units will be exempted from paying demand charges for 2 months and the same can be paid later in installments without any late charges
• 50% concession on stage carriage special road tax will be given for 3 months starting from April, 2021
• 50% concession on passenger tax will be given to the taxis and contract carriages
• The scheme is mainly for supporting the transport and tourism industry in the state which is finding difficult to survive in the current pandemic situations
• It will thus contribute to the overall economic stability in the state.

Scheme Details:

• Subvention Scheme is announced in the state by CMO Jai Ram Thakur, majorly to support the state transport and tourism sector
• The scheme tends to provide some relief to the transport and tourism industry
• Hotels, Tourism Units, Tourist lodges, etc will be exempted from paying demand charges for 2 months and the same can be paid later in installments without any late charges
• 50% concession on stage carriage special road tax will be given for 3 months starting from April, 2021
• 50% concession on passenger tax will be given to the taxis and contract carriages
• Financial assistance will be provided to the beneficiary sectors
• Second wave of COVID 19 pandemic is having an adverse impact on various sectors all over, transport and tourism being one major sector.
• This scheme intends to support the hotels, guest house owners and their units to survive through the difficult times
• Thus, it will thereby support the transport and tourism sector along with contributing to economic stability in the state
