Government of Tamil Nadu will be building 1,800 houses of the government employees under the Tamil Nadu Government Rental Housing Scheme (TNGRHS). The objective of the scheme is to provide good houses to the state government employees. Tamil Nadu Housing Board (TNHB) is responsible for the land acquisition and construction. The new master complex of 1,800 flats will be constructed in Todhunter Nagar near Saidapet. The existing 464 old flats will be demolished. The new complex will be 19 floor building with amenities for the government employees. The required land will be obtained from the state Public Works Department (PWD). The existing residents of 464 flats are given temporary accommodation in Thirumangalam and notices to vacate the flats is given.
