Telangana Dalit Bandhu

On July 18, 2021, Telangana government has decided to implement “Dalit Bandhu Scheme” a Dalit empowerment programme in the state. It was announced some months back in the state budget for the year 2021-22. The decision regarding implementation of the scheme was taken by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. This scheme will be soon implemented as a pilot project in Huzurabad assembly constituency. Under this scheme, measures will be taken for upliftment of the Scheduled Castes in the constituency. This scheme will enable overall development of the conditions of people belonging to scheduled castes. Efforts will be taken to enable the people to earn their living and improve their standard of living. It aims to make them self-reliant with improved socio-economic backgrounds. State government has set aside a budget of Rs. 1000 crores for this initiative.

Scheme Objectives and Benefits:

• The main objective of the scheme is to empower the people belonging to scheduled castes
• This scheme aims to provide financial and social stability to the beneficiaries
• It also aims at upliftment of the beneficiaries in the society
• It will include various measures for providing employment, self-employment opportunities and social security for them
• It will better the way of living of the beneficiaries and their families thereby belonging to the scheduled castes in the state

• Telangana government has come up with a new Dalit Empowerment scheme named ‘Telangana Dalit Bandhu’
• The scheme was initially introduced by the Finance Minister, T Harish Rao while presenting the state budget on March 18, 2021
• Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao took a final decision regarding implementation of the scheme on July 18, 2021
• This scheme covers people belonging to Scheduled Castes in the state
• It aims at betterment and welfare of the beneficiaries thereby empowering them
