On April 15, 2021, Himachal Pradesh Police Department newly launched ‘Veerangana on wheels’ scheme for all the lady constables in the state. CMO Himachal Pradesh, Mr. Jai Ram Thakur flagged off 135 two wheelers for the beneficiaries. Scheme details were provided by Director General of Police, Mr. Sanjay Kundu. Under this scheme, the lady constables at all the 135 police stations in the state, will be provided with two wheelers for reducing the response time in crimes against women. This scheme is being initiated under Nirbhaya scheme. Women helpdesks have also been set up at all the police stations. This scheme tends to enable a faster response to complaints made by girls and women in the state.
