Assam Mala Scheme

To improve linkage of district roads and state highways in the state thereby generating new opportunities and better transportation

On February 7, 2021, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi launched a key infrastructural scheme named ‘Assam Mala Scheme’ in Sonitpur district, Assam. This scheme will play a crucial role in developing and strengthening the road transport connectivity. It will cover state highways and major district roads in the state of Assam. It tends to connect the villages to the cities. It will improve infrastructure as well as increase more employment opportunities. Separate budget is allocated for Assam Mala scheme in this year’s budget. Total outlay estimation for this scheme is Rs. 8,210 crores.
