The Scheme for Assistance to Purchase AIDS/Appliance to Disabled Person is launched by Central Government and implemented by Chandigarh Government as well as some Union Territory, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Department of Social Welfare. The scheme is specially introduced for disabled persons of state. The main objective behind introducing this scheme is to provide financial assistance to physically handicapped persons for the purchase of aids/ appliances to increase their mobility in their day to day working. Under this scheme 100% cost on purchase of artificial limbs/ aids/ appliances subject to a maximum of Rs. 20, 000 are provided. For getting benefits under this scheme disabled candidate need to qualify some eligibility norms which are mentioned below in detail

Required eligibility and conditions for applying Scheme for Assistance to Purchase AIDS/Appliance to Disabled Person:
- Monthly income of the applicant from all sources should not more than Rs. 8,000 per month
- Applicant should be resident of Chandigarh for more than 3 years
- Disability should be 40% and above
Document required for applying Scheme for Assistance to Purchase AIDS/Appliance to Disabled Person:
- Two passport size photographs
- Residence Proof for the last three years duly attested (Voter Identity Card, Ration Card, Electricity Bill)
- Copy of Disability Certificate/Identity Card with 40% Disability
- Affidavit regarding income as per specimen enclosed with the application form
- Recommendations of Medical Authorities (General Hospital, PGIMER, GMCH or any Govt. Dispensary) regarding aid/ appliance required to the applicant
- Aadhar card
- Bank details e.g. account number, account holder name, branch name, IFSC code, MICR code
Application procedure:
- Applicant candidate can collect application form from nearer Social Welfare Office at Taluka level or District level and by filling that application candidate can submit along with required documents
