The Government of Odisha will be adopting popular Bhoochetana a soil health scheme for Odisha farmers in the state. The scheme was launched in Karnataka earlier and saw huge benefits in the crop production in the state.

Bhoochetana Soil health scheme Odisha: Implementation & Highlights
- The scheme saw improvements in the crops and farmer`s income in the Karnataka
- Over 4.75 million farmers have benefited from this scheme, the crop production increased by 20-66% and total net benefits of $350 million
- International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) will be working with the Government of Odisha to implement the scheme
- ICRISAT has signed the memorandum of understanding with the state government
- 4.35 million farmers in the Odisha to benefit under the scheme
- It is a 3 year agreement and 6.1 million hector of farmland in 30 districts of Odisha will be covered under the scheme
- Soil analysis, nutrient management and treatment information will be given to the farmers
- Appropriate seeds, fertilizers, crops will be recommended to the farmers as well
- Improved cultivators, local seed banks, land and water management practices and capacity building for farmers too will be implemented
- This is expected to increase productivity through improved practices
- Soil Health Card is the important initiative by the Prime Minister Shree. Narendra Modi too
