Financial Assistance Scheme for Artists, Karnataka

On May 22, 2021 in view of the impact of second wave of covid-19, Karnataka government launches a scheme under which financial assistance is provided to the film and television artists in the state. This announcement was made by Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa. Due to the pandemic followed by lockdown conditions all over the country, shooting for films, TV advertisements, serials, etc was barred due to the artists suffered a lot and are in distress. Thus, the government has decided to provide them financial assistance of Rs. 3000 to each artist in the state. This assistance amount will be transferred in to the bank account of the beneficiary. About 20,000 beneficiaries will be benefited under this scheme this year. Chief Minister also announced a relief package of Rs. 2,050 crores for assisting people in different sectors all over the state. It is an important step taken by the state government for ensuring welfare of the citizens.

• Under this scheme all the film, television artists will be covered
• Due to the pandemic and lock-down situations many artists have suffered loss of work and are in distress
• This scheme tends to relieve them from the distress and support them to survive
• Financial assistance of Rs. 3000 will be provided to the artists through Direct Bank Transfer
• Their bank accounts are required to be linked with their Aadhaar card
• For availing the benefit under this scheme, applications can be made by the artists through Sevasindhu app
• Documents will be reviewed and accordingly benefit will be approved and transferred via DBT
• Artists were also provided with assistance during the first wave, seeing the impact of second wave, the assistance is announced again
• About 6.23 crore financial assistance is released for this scheme thereby benefiting 20,000 artists in the state
• CM stated that restrictions have been released in some districts as per the covid cases and outdoor film shooting is also approved
• He also advised the artists to take care of their health and to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
