Financial Assistance Scheme for Artists, Karnataka

To ensure welfare of artists across the state and help them overcome their suffering due to loss of work during the lockdown

On May 22, 2021 in view of the impact of second wave of covid-19, Karnataka government launches a scheme under which financial assistance is provided to the film and television artists in the state. This announcement was made by Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa. Due to the pandemic followed by lockdown conditions all over the country, shooting for films, TV advertisements, serials, etc was barred due to the artists suffered a lot and are in distress. Thus, the government has decided to provide them financial assistance of Rs. 3000 to each artist in the state. This assistance amount will be transferred in to the bank account of the beneficiary. About 20,000 beneficiaries will be benefited under this scheme this year. Chief Minister also announced a relief package of Rs. 2,050 crores for assisting people in different sectors all over the state. It is an important step taken by the state government for ensuring welfare of the citizens.

  • CM stated that restrictions have been released in some districts as per the covid cases and outdoor film shooting is also approved
  • He also advised the artists to take care of their health and to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
  • Minister of Forest, Kannada and Culture of Karnataka, Mr. Aravinda Limbavali thanked the CM for starting this scheme for welfare of the artists in the state
