Goa Mediclaim Scheme

Goa Mediclaim Scheme is the scheme under which the patient suffering from disease or ailment which cannot be treated in government hospitals of Goa is given financial assistance, so that the patient can take treatment in super specialty hospitals. The scheme is boon to the sufferers which belong to poor family and cannot afford the treatment cost of private special hospitals. There are certain conditions to get the scheme and once satisfied, treatment is provided. The scheme is meant for the resident of Goa state. It does not differentiate in rural and urban areas, to get the benefit of the scheme just be the resident of Goa and get it. It is one of best scheme so far from the state, this ultimately results in the better health of the people of Goa. The scheme covers number of serious ailment treatment related to brain, heart, kidney, plastic surgery and more which are actually expensive and hard to afford by common people.

Types of treatment provided:

  1. Neurological disorders
  2. Cardio-Thoracic surgery
  3. Kidney transplantation
  4. Plastic surgery
  5. Radio therapy
  6. Total replacement of joints
  7. Any other major disease/illness (cardiac arrest, diabetes, asthma, etc.)

Benefits of Goa Mediclaim Scheme:

  • Financial assistance: The beneficiary will get financial assistance of Rs. 1.50 lakhs to take treatment in super specialty hospitals.
  • Better treatment: Under the scheme the beneficiary gets the treatment under super specialty hospitals which has far better treatment facilities than some general hospitals
  • Treatment of major illness: The scheme provides treatment to many major ailments and illness and has wide range
  • 3 lakh for few expensive treatments: Beneficiary willing to undertake open heart surgery, kidney transplantation, neuro surgery will get Rs. 3 Lakhs for the treatment which also includes post operation medication
  • Treatment of Cancer: Cancer patient will get maximum of Rs. 5 lakhs for the treatment
  • Bone Marrow Treatment: Being very expensive treatment the scheme provides maximum of Rs. 8 lakhs for the treatment
  • 60% reimbursement of money: In case beneficiary taking chemotherapy, total hip/joint replacement in Goa Medical College will get 60% of total cost of treatment reimbursed
  • Annexure-IX: Beneficiary getting treatment from the hospitals which are in the range of 24-36 in the hospitals list has to pay the treatment fee first which gets refunded after the application to Director of Health Services application form is Annexure-IX (Download here: Annexure-IX)

Eligibility for Goa Mediclaim Scheme:

  1. Must be the resident of Goa state for last 15 years
  2. Annual income should not be more than Rs. 1, 50, 000

Documents Required:

  1. Residential Proof (electricity bill, water connection bill, gas connection bill, ration card, voter id, Aadhar card, pan card or driving license)
  2. Aadhar Card
  3. Passport size photographs (2 copies)
  4. Photo copy of the election card (in case of minor bring the photo copy of parent/guardian)
  5. Medical Certificate from the Medical Superintendent of Goa Medical College, Bambolin stating that patient needs treatment from other recognized hospitals since there are not enough facilities i.e. fill form-A, Annexure-V (Download here: Annexure-V)
  6. Income certificate on form-B i.e. Annexure-VI (Download here: Annexure-VI)

Application form:

To apply for the scheme beneficiary has to fill up the form Annexure-VII & Annexure-VIII and submit the form to Director of Health Services, Panaji, Goa with supportive documents (Annexure-VII: Annexure-VII Annexure-VIII: Annexure-VIII).
