Jagananna Vasathi Deevena Scheme

CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launched Jagananna Vasathi Deevena scheme for helping the poor and economically backward students. This scheme is mainly launched to help the students studying as well as the children who wish to study. It aims at boosting students to take up higher studies without any financial burden on the parents. Under this scheme students will be provided with reimbursements of boarding and hostel fees. This reimbursement will be applicable till the completion of the course. On April 28, 2021 CM credited about Rs. 1048.94 crores to the bank accounts of mothers of the beneficiaries through direct bank transfer.

Objectives and Benefits:

• The main objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to the students belonging to financially weaker background
• The scheme will encourage the students to pursue higher education
• Under the scheme the students will pursue higher education in the stream of their choice without any financial burden on the parents
• It will provide help to the students to meet their expenses for higher studies as well as hostel/ boarding stay
• This financial assistance will help the students with further studies without having financial constraints

• This scheme will give the students a chance to pursue to higher education as per their choice
• No student will opt out of higher education due to financial constraints
• This scheme will enable poorest student to enroll in the higher studies as there will be no financial burden of boarding/ hostel fee payment
• Students belonging to SC, ST, EWS and other minorities will be provided with 100% reimbursement
• For this scheme, CM credited about Rs. 1,048 crores in the bank accounts of mothers of the beneficiaries
• About 10,89,302 students are benefited through the scheme currently
• The amount of fee reimbursement will be transferred to the bank accounts of mothers of beneficiary students through direct bank transfer
• Government’s Vidya Deevena scheme is helping students with college fees and Vasathi Deevena is helping students with boarding and hostel fees
• This scheme will help all the financially weaker students to study further
• It will ensure that no student finds it difficult to study due to financial constraints
• This will lead to overall development of the socially and economically weaker sections across the state in the long run
