Tripura state cabinet approved ‘Journalists Paribar Suraksha Scheme 2021’ on Tuesday, July 6, 2021.This scheme aims at welfare of the families of the journalists in the state who worked relentlessly but lost their lives during their period of service. Thus, to support the families of such journalists who died during their service, the state government has announced a monthly pension of Rs. 5,000 per month for the family. This is a crucial step taken by the state government to ensure welfare and social security of the families of the deceased journalists in the state.

- The main objective of the scheme is to provide social and financial security to the families of the deceased journalists in the state

Eligibility:
- Permanent residency of the state (for at least 10 years)
- Period of service of the deceased journalist should be should be minimum 10 years as an accredited journalist
- 10 years working certificate of the late journalist from a media organisation is mandatory
- Any legal family member including the ones below 18 years of age will be eligible for the monthly pension
