On October 12, 2021 Coimbatore corporation launched ‘Kalaignarin Varumun Kappom Scheme’ a preventive health care scheme at the Chinnavedampatty Middle School. Under this scheme screening of various ailments will be done free of cost by the corporation. During the launch the corporation held a medical camp in ward 42 of the school. The camp had 21 stalls for screening people for various ailments and providing medical services. Doctors screened persons at the camp for various ailments like cancer, hyper tension, tuberculosis, diabetes and other. The aim of this scheme is to ensure health and safety of the people through early diagnosis and treatment of ailments. It will turn out as a boon for the people who are not able to afford medical check-ups and treatments.

- Out of the total persons screened doctors referred four people for cataract surgery to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.
- Four people were referred to he hospital for cervical cancer and five for coronary angiography.
- About 83 people were diagnosed with hyper tension and 43 people with diabetes.
- Services like blood test, covid-19 vaccination, ECG, ultra sound were also provided.
- The corporation will follow up with the patients for various tests.
- Four medical camps will be conducted at various places in one year.
