To provide basic food grains like rice and wheat at subsidized rates to the beneficiaries

West Bengal government started Khadya Sathi scheme on January 26, 2016 for the entire state. This scheme is launched in the state for providing food security across the state. Under the scheme, rice and wheat will be provided to the beneficiaries at the rate of Rs. 2 per kg. It covers almost 90% of the population of the state. The scheme aims to create a systematic food mechanism of food distribution to the ration card holders in the state. About 10 crore people in the state are covered under the scheme. During the covid lockdown period, beneficiaries under the scheme were provided with free ration from June 2020. This free ration is announced till June 2021.

Scheme Objectives and Benefits:

Eligibility:

  • Applicant and his/her family members should be Citizens of India
  • The applicant and his/her family should mandatory be a residents of West Bengal state
  • Applicants whose ration card is expired can apply again for the same
