Mahila and Kishori Samman Yojana and Chief Minister’s Milk Gift Scheme

To improve health and hygiene of women in the BPL families

On August 5,2020, CMO Haryana, Mr. Manohar Lal Khattar will inaugurate 2 schemes in the state namely ‘Mahila and Kishori Samman Yojana’ and ‘Chief Minister’s Milk Gift Scheme’. Under Mahila and Kishor Samman Yojana, the Anganwadi workers will distribute sanitary napkins to the women aged 10-45 years belonging to Below poverty line families. Under Chief Minister’s Milk Gift Scheme, fortified skimmed milk will be given to children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers visiting Anganwadi centres, six days a week. This scheme will be announced by the CM through video conferencing.

Scheme Objectives:

  • The main objective of the Mahila and Kishori Samman Yojana is to improve health and hygiene of women in the BPL families
  • A packet of sanitary napkins will be distributed every month, door to door, by the anganwadi workers to the women and adolescent girls of BPL families, for
  • The main objective of Chief Minister’s Milk Gift Scheme is to provide fortified skimmed milk to children, pregnant women and lactating mothers
  • It aims at improving the nutritional health of mothers and children.
  • The aim of launching these schemes is mainly to improve the health, hygiene and nutritional status of the women and children.

Scheme Benefits:

  • Mahila and Kishori Samman Yojana will benefit the women who cannot afford sanitary napkins or are negligent about the hygiene status.
  • It will enable them to get 6 napkins every month for a year.
  • Chief Minister’s Milk Gift Scheme will enable free 200ml milk to the children, pregnant women and lactating women.
  • This scheme will enable them to have nutritious milk rising above their financial constraints
  • It will also help in case of malnutrition, as milk is considered as a complete diet and can give proteins necessary to the body.

Mahila and Kishori Samman Yojana – Key Points:

  • Budget provision by the government for this scheme is Rs. 39.80 Cr.

Chief Minister’s Milk Gift Scheme – Key Points:

  • This scheme will be launched by the CMO Haryana on August 5, 2020
  • Government spokesperson gave information about the scheme to be launched’
  • Children coming to the anganwadi centres, Pregnant women, Lactating mothers all are eligible under this scheme
  • Under this scheme, per day 200 ml fortified scented skimmed milk powder will be provided to the beneficiaries for 6 days a week
  • The milk provided will be in 6 different flavors like butterscotch, chocolate, rose, ilaichi, vanilla and plain
  • 3 lakh children ageing 1-6 years are estimated under this scheme. Estimated no. of pregnant and lactating mothers is 2.95 lakhs
  • Under this scheme, the milk is distributed for about 300 days in a year
  • The milk is fortified as per Food Safety ad Standards Authority of India (FSSA).
  • Budget provision by the government for this scheme is Rs. 216 Cr.
