To encourage the use of eco-friendly cloth bags thereby ending the use of plastic bags in the state.

On December 23, 2021 Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin newly launched Meendum Manjappai scheme in the state. This initiative intends to end the use of single use plastic. Through this scheme the state government wants to encourage the people to stop the use of plastic bags and use yellow cloth bag instead. This is an eco-friendly initiative for encouraging the use of cloth bags in daily use like for shopping, for carrying books, carrying ration, etc. This scheme intends to direct people to avoid the use of plastic and use cloth bags instead for preventing the environment damage.
