The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India has launched Digital India Internship Scheme for students. The objective of the scheme is to provide internship opportunity to the students in the country to work enter experienced mentors and trainers and also to provide opportunity to gain first had practical experience under renowned Supervisors. The scheme is announced by the Minister of Electronics and IT and Law & Justice Shree Ravi Shankar.
What is Digital India Internship Scheme? A scheme by MeitY (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology) to provide internship opportunities to students across the country and encourage them in studies with practical experience.
Digital India Internship Scheme Objectives:
- To encourage students to actively participate in learning process through experimentation
- To help students to try out and experiment things that they learn in the class room and be knowledgeable
- To provide opportunities to the students to work with experienced mentors, trainers and supervisor
- To develop skills at early age in students
- To provide opportunity to earn upto Rs. 10,000 monthly during internship period
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) wants to create e-Infrastructure and promote e-governance, Promotion of electronics hardware manufacturing and Information Technology & IT Enabled Services (IT-ITeS) Industry, Providing Support for creation of Innovation Infrastructure in emerging areas of technology, Providing support for development of e-Skills and Knowledge network and Securing India’s cyber space.
Digital India Internship Scheme: Duration of Internship
- Duration of the internship: 2 months
- Internship will be offered twice every year
- Summer internship during May and June
- Winter internship during December and January
- The internship can be extended to three months depending on the performance of the candidate, Ministry`s requirement and the time the candidate is willing to spend in the Ministry
Areas & Sub-Areas of Internship: There are total 25 slots for internship and hence 25 candidates only can work as an intern with the ministry

Eligibility Criteria for Digital India Internship Scheme:
- Indian students studying in Indian University and
- Students how has secured at least 60% in last degree or certificate examination and
- Pursuing B.Tech/B.E., and are in the 2nd/3rd year of the 10+2+4 pattern of education or
- Pursuing integrated degree course or dual degree (B.E./B.Tech, M.E./M.Tech.) and are in the 4th/5th year of the 10+2+5 pattern of education
- Students will good academic careers will be given preference
Renumeration:
- A token renumeration of Rs. 10,000 per month will be paid to the intern based on his/her performance
- The renumeration is paid based on the feedback by the super wiser
- The renumeration is paid after the completion of the internship
How to apply online for Digital India Internship Scheme?
STEP 1: CLICK HERE to register yourself first. The applications can be done online only on Web Portal of NIC for the Internship Scheme (URL: http://meity.gov.in/schemes).
STEP 2: Fill in the registration form to complete the registration
STEP 3: CLICK HERE to go to login page now and login with your login credentials
STEP 4: Once logged in, on the left menu click on Apply for services and then click on View services
STEP 5: Click on Apply
Selection Process:
- The selection is made based on the candidate`s academic records
- Before final selection personal or Skype interview will be conducted (TA / DA is not paid to candidates for attending the personal interview)
- The list of selected candidates will be announced on the official portal only
Certificate of Internship: Upon successful completion of the internship, a certificate of internship will be provided by the Ministry.
