Financial assistance for basic education and security to girl child and scheme aims to encourage birth, education and development of girls

CMO Uttar Pradesh launched, Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana (MKSY)/ कन्या सुमंगला योजना for the girls born in lower income group families. The scheme was implemented on April 1, 2019. The main of this scheme is to financial assistance for basic education and security to girl child. This scheme aims to encourage birth, education and development of girls. This scheme is applicable across the state of Uttar Pradesh.

Scheme Objectives:

  • The main objective of the scheme is to encourage birth of girls in the families, and to provide financial assistance for their education.
  • This scheme aims good welfare of girls and their financial security right from their birth to her bachelor’s programme.
  • This scheme overall aims at changing the mentality for girls in the family where they are considered as burden

Benefits:

  • This scheme covers all the lower income/ poor families across the state
  • It helps to boost the education of girls
  • It provides financial support since birth to bachelors, thus making them self-reliant.
  • It also helps in the overall welfare of girls in the family.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The basic requirement under this scheme is, that the girl and her family should be from Uttar Pradesh state itself. They must have a valid proof for the same
  • As this scheme is for girls born in low income groups, the annual income of the family should not more than 3 lakhs
  • Maximum of 2 girl child’s in one family are covered under this scheme
  • If a woman gives birth to twin girls, then at the time of her next delivery the 3rd girl-child will also be covered under this scheme. All 3 girls will get the benefits.

Scheme Implementation stages and Documents required:

Under this scheme a total benefit of Rs. 15,000/- is given to the beneficiaries and the amount is distributed in 6 different stages as mentioned below:

Stage 1: In this stage the girl child born on April 1, 2019 or after the date will be benefited with Rs. 2000/- (One time)

Documents required for Stage 1 are:

  • Latest photograph of the newly born baby girl
  • Joint family photograph
  • Birth Certificate
  • Affidavit as per the format

Stage 2: Here, the girl who is not born before April 1, 2018 and has received full immunization is granted Rs. 1000/- (One time)

Documents required for stage 2 are:

  • Latest photo of the girl
  • Joint photo of the girl child and applicant
  • Affidavit in prescribed format

Stage 3: Here, the girl child who has taken admission for standard 1 in the current academic year will be benefited with Rs. 2000/- (One time)

Documents required for the stage 3 are:

  • Latest photo of the girl
  • Joint photo of the girl child and applicant
  • Affidavit in prescribed format
  • Admission certificate of Class 1
  • Scanned copy of Aadhaar card

Stage 4: In this stage, the girl who has enrolled in standard 6 in the current academic year will be benefited with Rs 3000/- (One time)

Documents required for stage 4 are:

  • Latest photo of the girl
  • Joint photo of the girl child and applicant
  • Affidavit in prescribed format
  • Admission certificate of Class 6
  • Scanned copy of Aadhaar card

Stage 5: In this stage, the girl who has taken admission in standard 9, will be benefited with Rs. 3000/- (One time)

Documents required in stage 5 are:

  • Latest photo of the girl
  • Joint photo of the girl child and applicant
  • Affidavit in prescribed format
  • Admission certificate of Class 9
  • Scanned copy of Aadhaar card

Stage 6: The girl who has passed SSC, HSC, and has enrolled for Bachelors/ 2 years certified diploma in the current academic year will be benefited wit Rs. 5000/- (One time)

  • Latest photo of the girl
  • Joint photo of the girl child and applicant
  • Affidavit in prescribed format
  • Mark-sheets of class 11th and 12th
  • Admission receipt for the Bachelors or Diploma course
  • College/Institution ID
  • Scanned copy of Aadhaar card

How to Apply:

  • For Offline mode:
    • The forms can be collected free of cost from the Block development office or from the SDM, Probation officer, etc
    • Fill in the details and attach All the necessary documents with the application form and submit it in the office. The details and documents will be verified and processed then.
    • Applicants are not supposed to send the application or documents via post
  • For online mode:
    • Applicants must visit the official website/portal – up.gov.in

    • Then go through the ‘Guidelines on scheme’ given in the ‘Quick links’
    • After going the instructions, guidelines then go through ‘Online Application Process’ too, this will help understand how the process is conducted, documents and validation required during the process.
    • Then click on ‘Citizen Service Portal (Apply here)’, going ahead the applicant should read the terms and conditions given on the page

    • Tick the check box for ‘I agree the terms’ and click on ‘Continue’
    • Then the application form will be available, fill in required details like, Relation with the girl child (are you her parent/guardian or self), fill name of the Applicant, full name of applicant’s father/husband, Applicant type (urban or rural), District
    • The applicant has to tick the check boxes agreeing that he/she is the resident of Uttar Pradesh and Annual income of the family is below 3 lakhs
    • A valid mobile no. is to be put and is to be verified via OTP
    • A strong password is to be created and confirmed
    • Enter the captcha and complete the registration process
    • Then the applicants will get a Login Id and Password on the mobile no. after successful registration
    • Login with the same ID and Password received
    • After logging in fill in the beneficiary details
    • Complete the application form by filling the remaining details.

Application Fees: Nil. No charges are to paid for the application form (online and offline both)
