Government of Himachal Pradesh launched Mukhyamantri Madhu Vikas Yojana. This scheme was launched to improve the quality of farm produce through pollination by bees. Under the scheme colonies of honey bees will be provided to the farmers at subsidized rates. Such use of pollination by bees is known as entomophily, which thereby increases farm productivity and improves the quality of produce. Training will also be provided to the farmers in the use of bees and pollination in farming.

Scheme Objectives and Benefits:
- The main objective of the scheme is mainly launched to boost the production and its quality by the use of bees, i.e. through pollination by bees
- It also aims at providing employment opportunities to the youth in rural areas
- It will increase the income of the farmers thereby increasing the farm productivity
- The scheme will also lead to increased production of honey in the state
- Ecological balance will be maintained
- Rural economy will be developed in the long run
Scheme Details:
- Mukhyamantri Madhu Vikas Yojana is a scheme launched by the Himachal government mainly to boost the quality of fruit and agricultural crops
- It aims at boosting the farm output and improving the farm output of the farmers
- Assistance will be provided to the farmers for bee keeping, pollination and it’s use in farming etc
- Farmers will only require a Bonafide certificate to avail the benefit under this scheme
- Bee colonies and bee hives will be provided to the farmers at a subsidized rate., subsidy up to 20% will be provided
- Maximum 50 bee colonies are allowed per beneficiary
- 50 colonies will be provided per beneficiary which costs at Rs. 2000 per colony, but the farmers will get the same at Rs. 1600/- per bee colony i.e. 80% of the original cost
- 1000/- will be given to indigenous bee keeper per house
- Literature, documentaries, journals, bulletins are issued for the assistance of farmers
- Up to 7250 beneficiaries have been benefited under the scheme till date
- The annual scheme outlay for this year is Rs. 8.27 crores
