In view of the surge in Covid-19 cases amidst the second wave of the pandemic, Karnataka government has come up with a scheme to provide medical kits to the covid patients in home isolation. Currently this scheme is launched as a pilot project in some areas of Bengaluru and is planned to be expanded soon to cover the entire state. Covid positive patients with mild symptoms or asymptomatic patients are allowed for home isolation or home care thereby following certain protocols.
Under this scheme the patients under home isolation will be provided with free medical kit containing basic covid-19 medicines, oximeter, thermometer and a handbook with guidelines and advices for the patients. Blood tests of the patients at regular intervals are also planned to be included under the scheme. This scheme aims at treating the patients with mild symptoms immediately at home without any complications thereby avoiding the future need for admitting them in hospitals.

Home Isolation and Measures taken under the Scheme:
- Home isolation/ Home care is condition where a covid positive patient with mild symptoms or asymptomatic patient is kept in isolation, with no physical contact with any other person/ family member
- This home isolation is allowed under certain guidelines and protocols
- The patient with mild symptoms or asymptomatic patient should be isolated in a separate room in a house. He/she should wear a medical/ N-95 mask regularly along with proper hand sanitization and hydration.
- Under this scheme, the state government will provide the patients in home isolation with a free medical kit for basic medication and care during home isolation
- Medical kits will contain basic covid-19 medicines, oximeter, thermometer and a handbook with guidelines and advices for the patients
