Odisha state government has come up with new scheme for animal welfare under which new goshalas/ cattle shelters will be set up and veterinary healthcare infrastructure will be developed with the help of financial assistance provided by the state government. These schemes focus on ensuring welfare of stray animals in the state. Implementation of these schemes will be done under Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Department and State Animal Welfare Board through District Society. For setting up new goshalas/ cattle shelters the state government will provide a one-time capital grant in between Rs. 16 lakhs to 52 lakhs based on the cattle shelter capacity. For developing the veterinary health care infrastructure, the state government will provide a financial assistance of a maximum of Rs. 50 lakhs.

Objectives and Benefits:
- The main objective of these schemes is to ensure welfare of stray animals in the state.
