On July 27, 2021, the newly elected Chief Minister of Karnataka Mr. Basavaraj Bommai announced a new scholarship scheme for children of farmers in the state. This scheme is mainly planned to help the children of farmers studying as well as the children who wish to study. It aims at boosting students to take up higher studies. Due to lower financial background, many farmer children have to back off from their studies. This scheme will assist these children in completing their studies irrespective of their financial background. It will also lessen the economic burden of farmers thereby providing help in educating their children. The total budget allocated for this scheme is Rs. 1000 crores.
