PM Kisan FPO Yojana

To provide financial benefit to the farmers cross the country to developing the agriculture sector

PM Kisan Yojana has been started by the Central Government for benefiting the farmers across country. The Central Government is going to spend Rs. 4,496 Cr. under this scheme. On July 10, 2020 the Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare released a handbook on new guidelines for the formation and promotion of 10,000 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPO). The Union minister discussed about the scheme implementation issues with the states through video conferencing.

Scheme Objectives:

  • The main objective of the scheme is to provide financial benefit to the farmers
  • It aims at doubling the income of all the farmers across the country
  • FPOs aims at developing the agriculture sector as a whole

Scheme Benefits:

  • This scheme will provide a market for the produce of the group of Small and Marginal farmers (FPO)
  • It will also provide an ease to purchase agriculture produce, edible seeds, fertilizers, etc
  • Farmers will get rid of the middlemen, rather under FPO system, farmers will get good prices for their farm produce.

FPOs and SFAC:

  • FPOs refer to Farmers Producer Organisations.
  • It refers to a group of small, landless and marginal farmers. Such groups are registered under Companies Act. These will get all the benefits as a company but will be differentiated from the cooperative rules.
  • Such groups give a collective strength to the farmers to deal with difficulties.
  • Members of FPO will manage the activities together.
  • This will enable them to access technology, input, finance, and market easily which will increase their income as a whole.
  • SFAC, Small Farmers Agribusiness Consortium, it is a registered body providing support for promoting the FPOs
  • SFAC is registered under Department of Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmers Welfare
  • It helps the FPOs right from getting the inputs to Market linkages for a platform to sell the produce.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • For Field farmers- the group should be of at least 300 farmers
  • For Hilly Region – the group should be of at least 100 farmers

How to enroll:

  • For registering and applying under PM Kisan FPO Yojana, the applicant should visit the official website @ pmkisan.gov.in

  • Scroll down to Farmers Corner and click on New Farmer Registration
  • Enter Aadhaar No. and Captcha and Click on Continue

  • Application form will be displayed on the screen.
  • Fill in the basic details, like Full name, address details, farm/land details, crop details, mobile no., email id, etc
  • Upload the necessary documents
