The Government of India has launched a official portal for Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) pmfby.gov.in The portal provide details of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana its timelines, guidelines, farmers can register and insure their crops, report cross loss and know details of their application status etc. The objective behind launching the pmfby.gov.in portal is to simplify Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana applications and to make sure all the farmers across India gets benefits of the scheme.
What is Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY)? A government of India`s Crop Insurance Scheme for farmers in India.
Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) Objectives:
- To provide cost-effective crop insurance to the farmers which suits their crops
- To make sure that farmers don’t suffer financial losses in event of crop loss due to draught, floods, pests and diseases or natural calamity
- To make sure that the farmers has good stable income and to double their income
- To make sure that farmers dont fall pray to the illegal money lender for loans
- To stop farmers suicides
Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) Benefits & Implementation:
- Crop insurance at low premium rates: 2% on kharip crops, 1.5% on rabbi crops, 5% on commercial and horticultural crops to be paid by the farmer and rest of the premium amount (upto 90%) will be paid by the government
- Use of technology: Government is using all the latest technology to implement the scheme to make sure all the farmers can take benefits of the scheme. Smart phone apps will be used to upload crop data and make claims
- PMFBY is a replacement of National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (NAIS) and Modified NAIS (MNAIS)
- Risks covered under PMFBY: Yield loss due to natural calamities such as storms, floods, fraught, pests and diseases

- Cut of date of proposals:
- Kharip: 31 July
- Rabbi: 31 December
- Cut-off date for receipt of yield data

- Click on Calculate under Insurance Premium Calculator
- A calculator will open up
- Select season, year, scheme, state district, crop and click on Calculate button
- It will show the premium for the selected crop
