To boost the fisheries sector, thereby contributing to ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’

Central government launched flagship fisheries scheme named Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) last year. This launch was undertaken by PMO India, Hon. Mr. Narendra Modi. This scheme is launched to improve the marketplace for fish breeds. Under the scheme, a financial assistance of Rs. 3000 will be given to the beneficiaries for rearing and selling fishes. It mainly aims for the development of fisheries sector. It will also play an important role in breed improvement marketplace.

Objectives and Benefits:

  • Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) is the flagship scheme mainly to be launched for the development of fisheries sector in the country
  • Financial assistance of Rs. 3000 will be provided to the beneficiaries
  • This scheme aims at filling the gaps and difficulties in the fisheries sector through the use of technology

  • It will thus contribute to fish management by providing facilities for boosting the fish production and disease diagnosis
