Cabinet approved a new education scheme called Pradhan Mantri Schools For Rising India (PM SHRI) Yojana. Under the scheme, 14,500 schools will be developed and upgraded across the country. These all schools will become model schools under the new National Education Policy. According to the central PM-SHRI schools will be constructed or transformed with modern infrastructure. These schools will have the latest technology, smart classrooms, sports facilities, and more. 14,500 government schools will be changed into model schools and implement their new national education policy. These all government schools will be called PM SHRI schools. The total budget of the scheme is 27,360 cr.

The schools will be technologically driven and will be developed into Green schools, incorporating environment-friendly tools like solar panels, LED lights, nutrition gardens with natural farming, waste management, plastic-free environs, water conservation, and harvesting.
learning techniques adopted in these schools will be more experiential, holistic, integrated, play and toy-based (particularly, in the foundational years) inquiry-driven, discovery-oriented, learner-centered, discussion-based, flexible, and enjoyable.
Conceptual understanding and application of knowledge in real-life situations will be among the features of the scheme.
The government will also explore linking these schools with Sector Skill Councils and local industry to increase the likelihood of getting jobs for the students.
