The Delhi Police has launched new initiative called Prahari Scheme. They will act as police partner to prevent crime in the national capital. Delhi police commissioner Amulya Patnaik launched the new community based policing initiative. The police prahari will act as a eyes & ears of the police. The main objective of the scheme is to prevent crime & maintain law & order in Delhi.

701 chowkidars/security guards are already registered as police prahari. There are given three day training in the training hall in Delhi station Delhi Cantt. Praharis who has completed their courses has taken oath for the cooperation with the police. 10 praharis who has done remarkable job are given certificates along with cash awards by the CP Delhi.
