Uttar Pradesh government has launched a 100% electricity connections scheme for poor in the state. The scheme was announced by the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on the occasion of birthday of former Prime Minister Shree Atal Bihari Vajpayi. He gave a slogan of Prakash hai to vikas hai at the launch.
Lohban and Gausana districts in the Mathura are chosen for the implementation of the scheme. The UP govt will make sure that all 100% households in those two villages get power connections. Later on the scheme will be implemented through out the state.
Eligibility for Prakash hai to vikas hai scheme UP:
- BPL card holders
- People with annual income less than Rs. 35,000
Poor are charged Rs. 550 for the electricity connections. They just need to pay Rs. 50 at the time of the registration and remaining 500 in 10 monthly installments of Rs. 50 each. Earlier cost of the electricity connection was Rs. 10,000. Yogi government is planning to provide 16 million connections by 2018. The state has target of 4 crore under Prime Minister Saubhagy Scheme where as state has covered 25 lakh households.
